Civic HX with sunroof?
Hi,
I've been looking for a Civic HX and I came across one I really like, but it has a sunroof that I'm concerned about. While searching online I found a result on this forum, and it seems the HX wasn't supposed to have a sunroof.
I was wondering if anyone had some hard evidence or knew for sure if the HX was never offered with a sunroof?
If not, should be concerned about it leaking? I don't know much about aftermarket sunroofs or what a stock civic sunroof looks like.
Also I was concerned about the quality of the modification and if I should worry about the car's structure being adversely affected by the work.
Here's a picture of the car:

Don't know yet I'm waiting to hear back from the owner. I'm guessing you want to know if it's "1HGEJ7" denoting it is a HX model from the factory?
Sadly it's about 300 miles away so I'm hoping if it's a California car (which it must be to register here if I'm not mistaken) I can figure it out from here. I do have a friend nearby who could look at it possibly though.
I'm hoping someone who has lots of knowledge about civics would know for sure, but I'm hoping it was! I agree though, it looks a bit too oval to be a stock roof?
I was thinking that as well, is that a well documented swap that people do? I'm a bit weary of swaps and mods because I'd have little way of knowing if it was done right, namely if the tranny was the right model because I don't think it has any external difference.
The seller has a HX transmission for sale as well in another listing so perhaps he did swap the internals into another car.

If I'm not mistaken it came with a weird automatic which is more than likely tied to the ECU so it HAS to be the correct automatic. Someone may correct me though.
besides that, the 5speed you probably don't have much to worry about. Just get another d series 5speed trans if it gives you a problem

that is aftermarket. it could even be a dealer option. in aftermarket sunroofs, aside from a good install, brand is everything. webasto makes excellent sunroofs, both dealers i worked for used them for optional installs.

To everyone - thanks for the tips, sadly this car sold or was taken down after about one day being online. I guess I'll have to keep looking! :/
shotoutacc0rd - if you're talking about the HX CVT, yes it was 'weird' by some standards but I'm looking at 5spds only anyway. Also, the trans isn't so much going to cause a problem as it would reduce fuel efficiency and my goal is not to disassemble my new (used) car. I want to drive it and do minimal repairs, or I'd keep driving my Supra.

NotARacist - good to know I'll keep swapped cars in mind for the future, perhaps I'll do one myself someday. Right now I'm hoping to find a car that's ready to go. I saw two HX's on the highway yesterday and they made me jealous...I don't think people want to get rid of them.

You'd prolly have to change the clutch eventually anyway.
I think there's codes you can see on the trans to tell if it has short or long gears. If I'm not mistaken from what IV read the vtec-e engines came with their own manual which had even longer gears than the DX or LX model..

why are you complaining about my post count? Why do you even look at that. Why does it bother you.
