Seat anchor broke?
Cliffs: If it's possible, run a bolt through the floor pan under the car and use washers and sealer to reattach and weather proof.
I remember a year ago my buddy had a 88 Ford escort.
Apparently the seats are bolted to the floor pan, and the nuts to remove the seats are UNDER THE CAR. Well, after 25 years of salt and water one of the bolts snapped and the seat reclined back, bending the rails slightly. Me being the handy person i am, grabbed a grade 8 bolt and nut and a lot of washers, and reatttached the rail to the body. It was ghetto, but the car was a piece of **** and it worked. Also, if you stepped into the back seat on the driver side, if you weren't careful or were unsuspecting, you would step into a hole. The floor pan had rusted out where the rear passenger would set their feet on the driver side. You could literally see the carpet hanging under the vehicle if you got on your hands and knees. And every time it rained a two inch deep puddle could be found the next day sitting in the carpet "bowl" in the back seat.
Eventually the engine threw a rod and punched a nasty hole through the block. After 25 years, and only 88k miles on the clock, another rusty POS OBD0 TBI ford was sent to the crusher.

I lost two seat bolts when pulling my interior, since then both of my seats have been missing 1 bolt each. They're still firmly attached, I forgot about it until now actually. Maybe its not a big deal?
