hi i have a honda civic ex its a 98 it only overheats in drive not sure what it is the guy i bought it from told me he replaced the head gasket twice and took the thermostat out to help keep the car cool it still doesnt work in park if its sitting or your reving it the temp stays where it should be but in drive you cant go 5 miles without it overheating the raditor is fine we tested it not sure if the water pump is bad there was white crap in my raditor i really need help on what to do its also an automatic need help ASAP
Overheating will cause components to warp. So no matter how many head gaskets you replace you will always have issues. An easy check however, would be to burp the cooling system. Check the FAQs for the procedure.
Your automatic transmission is cooled by the radiator so when the car is moving the radiator is going to get hotter. Is your radiator fan coming on? I have NEVER seen a Civic actually NEED to have the air evacuated from the coolant. Also keep in mind that putting a load on the engine (like driving) will make it get hotter than just sitting. Its just that you usually have air flowing in when you're driving that helps to cool the car. Before you do another head gasket replacement, look for white smoke and back pressure into the overflow reservoir. If you have those symptoms than you probably need to get your head and block resurfaced at a machine shop. Or just replace the engine... Typically you can find a used head and block for a 98 Civic in the scrap yard for around $600

it didn't help to cold down when removing a thermostat valve due to fast flow of coolant and some problem you will encountered when you removing it. one advise for you is let it run for a normal temperature and check your coolant reservoir tank if there's no back pressure from combustion chamber also means bubbles come out from coolant.
I wonder if people are running their replies through a translator.
but let the thing cool. you have no thermostat so you can be sure all the air is removed from the system via the radiator cap. (I have the same set up really)
but let it cool. remove rad cap. start car and let it idle. fill rad with whatever you use ( I use distilled water only) wait till theres no more bubbles, fill it a tad more and put the cap on. done
