Default d16y8 to d16y7 vtec question

Ok, just picked up a beater car 97 civic ex, however it no longer has the d16y8 in it. has a d16y7 non vtec in it. it still has the stock p2p a83 ecu in it "for ex vtec Auto" so its throwing a vtec code. I found a p2e a72 ecu for a 97 lx/dx Auto trans which is for the d16y7 engine. that should be here today via ups. now my question is, will i have to change anything with the ecu wiring/pins since im using stock harness and the v tec harness/wiring is still in my engine bay. And would i have to ground out all the wires for it?? any help is appreciated! hondas are really my strong point, ive been from a long history of v8 rwd's. Thanks Guys

And nothing has to be done with the exisitng vtec harness in the engine bay, in example grounding it out. can just let it hang out?

Put some electrical tape and zip ties or something over the ends and let em hang. Not hurting anything.

EDIT: To make it clear, this is just to protect the connects for the future. The ECU will plug right in, no problem at all. Very simple when you are swapping motors that are native to the chassis and have the same electronic generations (OBD).
