Default D16Y8 to D16Y7 vtec question

Ok, just picked up a beater car 97 civic ex, however it no longer has the d16y8 in it. has a d16y7 non vtec in it. it still has the stock p2p a83 ecu in it "for ex vtec Auto" so its throwing a vtec code. I found a p2e a72 ecu for a 97 lx/dx Auto trans which is for the d16y7 engine. that should be here today via ups. now my question is, will i have to change anything with the ecu wiring/pins since im using stock harness and the v tec harness/wiring is still in my engine bay. And would i have to ground out all the wires for it?? any help is appreciated! hondas are really my strong point, ive been from a long history of v8 rwd's. Thanks Guys

your problem will be a malfunctioning transmission. the y7/y8 AT have different gear ratios. google search how to "trick" the ecu into thinking that vtec is connected. that is your best solution

I do have an output speed sensor code too. makes sense. so the ecu wont fix the vtec code? how would i fix the output speed sensor code? i have tried googling how to trick the vtec code but came up empty handed

Nm i see what your saying. so there will be an issue with it shifting with the y7 ecu in it with my y8 trans? i thought they where pretty much interchangeable. and only the manual trans where different? well any way my codes in my car now are a p0700 and a p0720 for the trans.

Yeah it'll have issues shifting due to the gear ratios. The ecu will fix the VTEC codes.

If he uses the P2E he doesn't need to do that

Got it in, no more check engine light, trans seems to shift flawlessly. trans codes were simple, just the speed sensor was unplugged. oops ha.
but everything seems fine and dandy? what kind of shifting issues would i experiance?
cause of right now i have nothing
