I have a clicking noise on my 2003 civic hybrid. Brought it in and it needs a valve adjustment. I won't be doing it myself. Just wondering about how much this should cost in a major Midwestern city. Dealer quoted me over $230 for what seems to be a fairly simple job. Thanks

 

That's about right for around here (north Texas). It is fairly simple but, also kinda time consuming, hence the price.

 

How many miles on your civic?

Mine makes a clicking noise only for a few minutes when it starts up in cold weather.

Sometimes the sound of the fuel injectors clicking is mistaken for noisy hyd lifters.

 

I did my own adjustment when they qouted me $550.00 in Chicago. It took me 3 hours. The engine must be cold so drop it off the night before. It is time consuming but I was a perfectionist about it as I always am when working on my cars. I did mine at 148K It cured the valve tick and rough idle.
