Default Radiator fan issue..turns on late?

Okay, so after driving around a little in hotter heat yesterday my temp started to go up. Maximum it went up was 3/4 of the meter, but this only happens for like a few seconds, then it starts to go down again to normal (assuming the fan turned on then). It kept doing this for a bit while I was driving slowly, highway the issue wasn't as pertinent.

Nighttime the needle didn't even go above halfway, so I know its an issue with the fan. But it comes on later than it should for some reason. Any ideas where to look?

Did you check fluid levels? Bleed air out of the system?

You say on the highway it is not as pertinent, can you clarify that some?

Are you saying it does not happen at all when on the highway or happens less frequently?

If driving 55 mph or better and you think it's fan related, it shouldn't happen at all.

If you believe it's a fan related issue it most likely would be the fan thermo switch located in the thermostat housing. It doesn't seem as likely but could also be a sticking thermostat which the test is provided bleow as well as the location and torque specs for the thermo switch.

This is also assuming your system has been bled correctly and fluid levels are good.
