Engine and Transmission mounts locate the engine in the bay.
Front and rear mounts are what control the rotation of the engine.

If the vacuum control for the hydro mounts or the hydro mount fluid has lost its property, the mounts will not properly control the engine.
Test the vacuum controls first, before changing the mounts out.

if theyre high mileage they may just need replaced. If they look torn or loose, then replace.

like mike said. there is a procedure for testing the control system for the mounts. Its fairly detailed and requires a vacuum pump. It will identify worn mounts.

I cannot locate one for the V6 but the test procdeure for the F22B1 is available online, but I cannot locate it either.

Basically you want to make sure that the vacuum control circuit is working properly.
IIRC vacuum is off when the engine is idling, and then vacuum is applied to solidify the mount under acceleration.

If that circuit is not working properly the mount will not solidify under load, and may even damage a new mount by allowing excessive movement.

That is for the F series rear mount, but albeit the test procedures are similar.
