How to install a cooling fan switch on F22B1
Hi Forum,
I got a little bored and decided to make a new how-to about how to installing a custom fan switch to run your fans constantly. I don't see how this can affect the engine in anyway but I do warn you that as with any engine allow it to reach optimal operating temperature before turning the fan switch to the on position. With that said enjoy the guide!
1. Locate the COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR on the thermostat housing near the top left corner of the engine.
2. As you see on the top of the sensor there are two wires connected to a clip that plugs into the sensor. You will have to gently splice into the wire covering and expose the wires.
3. Next take any wire long enough to reach into your dash or anywhere that you plan to install the switch and solder one wire to each exposed wire.Cover up with electrical tape or any insulator to reduce shorting out the wires.
4. Then locate where the opening in the firewall is and feed the wire into the driver compartment.
5.Next find a place to mount your switch.
6.Solder the ends of the wire to the switch following the diagram of the switch. Be careful some switches have 3 prongs instead of 2 prongs.
7.Next turn the key to accessory and flip your switch to the on position to test and see if the fans start up.
You have now installed a custom fan switch to run on hot days and high revs!
I will include pictures later, it decided to rain on me today.

Reducing engine temperature is always a good thing. Like the post said I was bored and only run it on hot days. The process is reversible by switching it off. The normal cooling process will still work with it on or off it's just an option.
The ecu and engine are designed to work at normal operating temperature. The thermostat keeps it up to that point and the cooling fans keep it from going above that point.
They work in tandem. Again, there is no reason to have the fans running all the time unless, perhaps, you have the ecu and engine tuned to work at a lower temperature.
