Hose clamps on rad hoses
So I've looked about online and I wanted to get some opinions on this.
Just got a new upper and lower rad hoses for my d series civic 1.6. I also got new worm drive clamps, just regular ones from autozone that you screw with a flathead to tighten on.
Cut it short, I decided to check on the hoses just to be sure, I noticed a very slight bit of coolant on the bottom rad hose where it connects to the radiator, on the clamp. I removed it, cleaned it up and put it back on, tightening it to where I pretty much can't anymore. Every other clamp seems to be dry as a bone, no issues. I'll double check for any drips when I drive the car again.
Question is, what clamps do you use, and if you use the worm drive ones, have they worked alright for you guys? Wanted to get some opinions. Maybe mine wasn't on tight enough, too tight? Go back to spring ones?

How many threads about this do you need? YOu pretty much just posted this in one of the deadest, least technical forums on H-T. See other thread.
Worm drive clamps are prone to loosening for two reasons: 1: inadequate torque, and 2: improper torque distribution. OEM's use spring clamps for a reason, they maintain more uniform torque on this hose in all positions.
If it leaks you have probably attempted to adapt a larger/smaller hose to a larger/smaller radiator for god knows what reason.

That lower rad hose can sometimes be a pain because of the way the tube sticks up. I couldn't get it to seal at all, not with a spring clamp or standard worm drive. I think my aftermarket rad had a slightly smaller hole than expected.
I ended up going with an ABA hose clamp, it works well. You can really tighten down on it without biting into the rubber. Make sure you get the right size, I bought a few different sizes just to be safe.
