Unlike on an obd1 car you don't have to worry about ignition timing. It is three bolts and that's it. Make sure to swap the spark plug wires one at a time so you don't mess up the firing order but it should be pretty straightforward.

Also, the part of the distributor that fits into the head is offset to allow you to only be able to more or less install it one way. So when you insert the new distributor shaft into the head, you will need to line it up. Just look at the new distributor and you will see it is offset so that it's not completely symmetrical. This is so it can only go in one way and not the other way. It will slide in gently if it is going in hard then it is off by 180 degrees.

It looks like the rockauto distributors also come with a distributor oring too.

be sure to google "rockauto coupon code" to find a discount code and enter it during checkout

If there is nothing wrong except replacing internal and external o ring/seal, there is step by step instructions under FAQS. I think I got my internal oring from eBay

Keep in mind it won't fit if your distributor is a Hitachi as stated in the auction.

You are not fooling with the timing (position relation of the pistons with the cam) so the worst thing that could happen is it will not start and you will have to move the distributor button position a bit to get it right when you position the top pulley at TDC (See sticky). I repaired my distributor by buying an O-ring from the local Honda dealer and I got the seal from an online store in the US. The bearing had some play so I tried to find one for it but I found that Honda holds the market on that specific size. My seal was for a 97 Accord SE, a part made at KOTEC America Inc. (part# 05-7830-4).

The key of the distributor is offset to allow proper alignment into the head when you insert. Just look at it closely and you will see it's not completely symmetrical.

If I remember correctly I used a punch and small hammer to tap it out. Keep track how it is disassembled because it goes on properly one way. If you install it 180 degrees out you will find the distributor will not seat properly and you will have to remove it, remove the pin and spin the end 180 degrees.

thats what i had tried but had no success after an hour of trying multiple ways to remove pin ijust used a pick to get seal out and cleaned it out and put in new seal and used a deep socket to make sure it was flush and everything was good

I think I’m going to create a video on this for the 6 cylinder. It’s pretty simple, but can be intimidating.
