Anyone running aftermarket performance valves?
What is the scoop on using aftermarket performance valves like Ferrea, Spoon, etc? Are these worth it for the H22A?
Anyone running these in their H22A?
Thanks,
Mark

No one is going to be able to tell you if they're worth it or not most likely since when valves are installed (generally) it's when they tear down the engine and do a lot of work upon it. Valves are not going to be worth it unless you get the intake manifold, head P&Ped along with the i/h/e. Most likely cams are going to be in order as well. You'll only need them if your application requires them, if you're not going to go that far it's not worth your time.
Ok, so lets assume the setup is an all out allmotor H22 with all major modifications such as headwork, pistons, high lift cams, intake manifold, exhaust, etc......

when building a high performance engine, it's a good idea to replace the valves, and get some good head work too.

not everyone is as rich as u man.. its not really the valve its more so the angles on the valve seat that effect air flow. not saying that it does but most use a 43-45 degree angle on the valve.

would you like an example of the **** storm that was thrown at me after my dad figured out i had charged all that **** to his credit card? i start delivering pizza next week for extra flow
I've crowers on my h22a4. I got them since I switched my cams to skunk2 stage 2 with skunk2 valve springs and titanium reatiners. My head has also been port and polished. Oh and i also raised the compression with type s pistons to 11.1. I figured the stock valves wouldn't take well to the extra HP and the last thing I want is to drop a valve.

did you go over sized on the valves? skunk2 stage 2 says not to, but i contacted them and the h22 can go .5mm oversized w/them, no other series engine can. i went full ferrea valvetrain .5mm oversized ss, tit. ret. and turbo springs..its notdrop in yet, finishing up in the next few weeks or so.
With all the enigne work I have....stage 3 cams...titanium retainers, dual coil springs, p&p head 11.5 compression....I stuck with stock valves. They bend really easy, I see that as a good thing in my experience.
Nope I didn't get the oversized valves. My engine was built for high compression with nitrous. From what I've seen turbo engines seem to benifit most from oversized valves. But in any case I decided not to go oversize.
i had 3 part times for a year.
