i was wondering if anyone has had experience using any of the color-matched spray paints that they make from your paint code, from Sherman-Williams (autobody store) or from English Color Paint Supply store ? or from AutomotiveTouchup.com website ?
i bought one 12oz spray can of color matched paint from AutomotiveTouchup.com and was only the basecoat without clearcoat, and was using it to paint my rear bumper over some parts i repaired after it was hit, and i just scuffed up the good paint around the damage and i started painting it and only was able to cover it with one coat and the one can i had ran out, so i need to get more, and it did look real good and was a good color match, but i have to pay for shipping since its ordered from a website,
so i was looking into maybe trying one from a local store such as sherman williams or english color, and i called and english color said around $16 per can, and sherman williams said $24.99 per can, but they both make them with the clearcoat mixed in with the basecoat.
but if i bought from those shops, at least i would'nt have to pay for any shipping costs,
but i was wondering if the spraycan tips were as good as the ones from automotive touchup ?, cause they have wide tip nozzles that are more accurate and easier to get a better spray pattern, not sure if the nozzles from those shops are just skinny cheap type nozzles ? or what ? anyone have experience from using them ?

It's a risk that you have to take if you buy it from 2 different places and brands. So to answer your question yes you might get different spray patterns from different brands of spray paint cans.

i wonder if the spray tip nozzle is the only thing that makes the spray pattern different? cause maybe i could just remove the good nozzle tip from one of the automotive touchup brand cans i had, and put it on a spray can from sherman williams or english color ? and save money buying it local with no shipping charges
recently been fooling around with graffiti style art, and learning how theres several different kinds of spray tip nozzles, for different purposes, and that you can switch nozzles on different cans, but they don't fit every type of can, but the type of nozzle on the automotive touchup brand is a wide fat tip nozzle, not those skinny red ones.
another thing i don't know about is how it is if i use the colormatched paint that they have clearcoat mixed in with it in one can ?, cause it seems like you are supposed to do it in stages, like coats of primer, then coats of the basecoat, then couple coats of clearcoat to protect and seal it all in and give it a glossy topcoat ?, but if it was mixed in with the basecoat seems like it would be weird doing each coat over another ??

Color match will be off too, because the 2 different paint company may mix it with a different variance, difference air pressure in can, and also the quality of paint. If its a
metallic color and one is base/clearcoat 2 stage and the other is single stage(clear mix with base) it will differently not match. But what you can do is use the the 2 stage spray can as a ground coat(cover coat) first, then spray the single stage over it to finish it. That is a option only if you have no other way of getting it professional done.

the paint i got in a spray can from automotive touchup.com matched almost perfectly, and the rest of the car's paint has been on it for 10 years, so has faded i'm sure over time, but it still matched it to that well anyway, so i know they make good color-match, i just hate having to pay for the shipping costs since you order their stuff online, and thought i would maybe try out some color match paint in a can from some local shops, i guess i just need to give them a try and buy a can, then i'll know instead of trying to find out online with people's opinions.
it does'nt have to be all perfect of a match to me anyway, its better than how my hood and fender is now, all chipping away and small rust spots forming, i just need to sand it down and get rid of the rust before it spreads further and protect it and also put a new smooth coat of paint so theres no more chips in the paint.
