Default Paint Problem

Hey-

I have an civic that has lost some of its clear coat and is starting to lose paint in some small spots. Can I pick up a can of paint from the dealer, sand it down and repaint myself?

I'm not 100% sure I am correct, but if you can get the color code it might be cheaper to get it from a company that is not a dealership.

To be honest if you spray it yourself no matter if you get the same color code it never comes out the same unless you spay the whole car....

Fixing that one spot isn't going to have it look the same as the whole car, so I'd either reshoot the whole car, or you can go to www.paintscratch.com and get the color made rather than going to the stealership

From what it sounds like, the clear is fading off and now the color is fading off as well. If thats the case, you need to feather out the peeling paint, spray at least the panel with color and then reclear. You only need to put color where the old color was coming off or where you sanded through. Blend it out to the edges of the panel and clear the whole thing. If you want to make the color match better, if nbecessary blend the color onto the adjacent panel and clear that one too.
