Default car stalls out when I come to a stop

91 si with a jdm b16... the guy I bought it from built it from the ground up. The ignitio. Stopped working so you have to turn the key on and jump the starter, starts right up, runs and drives fine. The problem is when I come to a stop it just dies out unless you can keep your foot on the gas. Im wondering if it could be the altenator going bad?? Or could have to do with jumping the starter? Just trying to get some ideas of what it could be before I go messing with anything. Thanks alot!

Its fine jumping the starter, it doesnt hurt anything. As far as the car dying at a stop, check your rpms at idle, if its below 750 then you want to raise your idle with the idle adjustment screw on the throttle body to 750-1000rpm because if you turn on your head lights sometime the rpms will go below 750. You may want to check your ecu to see if your pulling codes

Looks like this dude fixed his code 9 and misfires by replacing his distributor. But there is some useful diagnostics in the link as well

If you don't have a jumper switch, with a P28 you have to ground pin D4 to D22 on your ECU plug, I wired a switch; basically it is a controlled ground. When you do this the CEL will blink accordingly. Simply unplug the ECU from under the passenger side rug, and tap into that wire. I had a custom harness so it was easy for me.

Autozone sells the exact mimic of the 1st gen b16a and lifetime warranty. If you go on their website and put td-22 i think is the distributor code you'll find it. Oreilly also sells it but only 1 year warranty. I picked autozone so i can just keep exchanging. Dont buy the cheap ones off ebay, mine only lasteda year before it took a **** and the warranty was done in a year

But to use the chipped p28 thats in the car now... the car has to be converted to obd1 correct? Im trying to figure out if I can use the obd0 distributor and stock jdm computer to fix the problem.

You can't use an OBD0 distributor with an OBD1 ECU and vice versa.
The electronics aren't compatible.
So, you could use the stock JDM OBD0 ECU with the stock OBD0 B16 distributor. It has that weird bolt pattern so that's about the only distributor that's going to bolt on without modification. You could also hack a leg off an LS distributor and it will work.

Correct.... but if I take the distributor out thatz on the car causing my code 9... will there be any problems replacing it with the distributor that came with the swap from jdm engine depot and the computer that came with it also?

My bad, forgot you are not obd0. Basically you are only worried about the legs of the distributor. Vtec engine have the vtec solenoid in the way so they supplement it by moving the leg over on the case. If you are obd1, I'm guessing a del sol b16 distributor will work well. Otherwise, the one you have as long as it is obd1, you can get all 3 bolts in, and it plugs into your distributor plugs and you have no codes or issues, its fine.

I need to read everything before posting. But yeah, basically if you use the obd0 ecu, you can use the obd0 distributor but you have to take out the conversion kit if any and make sure the plugs on your distributor adaptor are obd0 plugs. You have to make sure everything is ready to go back to obd0 as far as wiring. Correct me if I'm wrong of course
