Default 91 ED7 / Koni Sports / Stock Springs / Skunk2 Camber Adjust / Extended Tophats

hello all. I have read through just about every thread I could find on the topic and could not find any specific to this setup I am putting together for a little suspension upgrade to my vehicle 91 ed7. right now I have stock springs with crappy monroe shocks and skunk2 pro series camber adjust for the front. everything is stock height and for the most part is not too bad. im not really looking to lower it too much just enough to compliment the konis. I want to keep the stock springs. the change being made is new koni sport shocks and skunk2 rear camber adjust. On the konis I was planning to adjust to the lowest spring perch height adjustment for both the front and rear and then correct the camber to just zero them out. I am wondering if the adjustment with the perch height would benifit from using an extended top hat? the overall goal is to keep that comfortable stock feel while still having more stability in turns. any input is appreciated.

i am quite sure most everyone is sick of regurgitating the same koni / gc gospel and im really not looking for the same old run down. opinion of the described setup from people who could put it together with their eyes closed is what i would be honored to hear.

Koni shocks + stock springs = cadillac-like ride.

The lowest perch is only like 1/2-3/4" drop though. Almost stock height. You might want to look into some quality lowering springs if you want anymore drop than that.

Another thing I would look into is a rear sway bar. That will help alot if you dont already have one.

Also, S2 camber kits are junk. Dont expect them to last more than ~20k miles. For the fronts anyways. The balljoints are low quality. I have no experience with the rears, but I would expect them to last about the same.

Stock springs on lowest perch might be too soft and you could have some bottoming out issues...just saying.

Nope, no such problems. Its only like 1/2" lower than stock. Speaking from personal experience here, my car is on Koni/stock springs right now.

nice! cadillac is what i was looking for. yes the skunk2 hardware does seem to wear fast. hm I will keep an eye on them and check into something better for when they destroy themselves. i believe there is a stock sway bar on there. really hoping to stick with the stock springs. the height feels like you can still hop curbs if you have too. over 100 on bumpy highway stuff feels safe. it also looks less appealing to most thief types. the bottoming out was not the big concern but more the extra compression from the height adjustment. 15mm drop in the back and the 24mm in the front is what i think the koni perch adjustment is. this is where I was thinking to add the extended top hats to gain back the travel lost from the lower perch height. for some reason I can not fully grasp the schematic and if im thinking of it in correct form. it will still keep the spring compressed a bit more from the lowering then with the extended tophat you would gain back that end part of the travel in the shock . is that correct? and would it make any difference? cadillac feel. nice.

No need for extended top hats. Stock top hats are just fine. You would have to compress the spring a TON to get it under an extended top hat. You can JUST do it by hand with the stock top hats.

I can get a pic and some measurements tomorrow of how my car sits if you want. It is set up just the way you are looking for, Stock springs on lowest perch both F and R.
