Default LS-VTEC rebuild

It's been awhile Honda-Tech... anyway my buddy bought an integra with ls vtec and its going to need the bottom end replaced due to a terrible rod knock... I was curious if anyone knew where I could find a guide on how to assemble the bottom end... I have a spare b18b1 block sitting in my garage torn apart and he is going to buy it from me... thing is neither of us have put an engine together before... im fairly certain that I can put it back together other than that... but I am trying to find an in depth guide we can look at wen assembling the block... Any help wuld be much appreciated... Thanks

Is all there seriously required? Assembly looks easier than I thought but all them numbers for clearances look confusing as hell...

Well, the rule is to check clearances. I always check clearances. especially when I'm mix matching used parts between engines. I guess you could get lucky just throwing everything together but, your taking a HUGEEE risk.

The tools are NOT cheap that's what stopped me along with the complicating math that comes along with them, and finally in rods/pistons and bearings I had a grand on the line. Just pay someone to do it no shame in that we outsource engine building to a Honda specialty shop around here(Gord Bush Performance).

How much is it typically to have the block put together? And have the block and all the parts cleaned, honed, balanced, and w/e else? And the block was taken apart before I got it...

Well its usually more expensive up north by the sound of it but it cost $650 in machine shop work last week for a friend lsv im currently building. Rebored to 81.5mm, rod big end resized for arp, rod small end resized for floating pin piston, hot tank the block, resurfaced the head and hot tank the head. Thats not including any assembly in this case but yeah if you dont have the tools or the desire to do it, it can get expensive quick depending on the shops in the area.

my shop price for assembling b-series long blocks is $250 (in NEPA). If machining is needed, prices vary depending on how much you bore, cut, etc.. machine shop time can vary from $80-$500 dollars here in PA.
