Vehicle making whining noise
Hello recently I started hearing a slight rattle in my car only today it got worse I popped my hood and found out it was a device that my sparkplugs plug into its right on top of the engine and sounds like a bad berring I'm not sure tho any help is appreciated
If you are refering to the distributor attached to the side of the head of the engine, it has a plastic cover usually black, on a half silver colored casing, then you better take that thing out of your car and replace it. My distributor shaft bearing seized and knocked the timing off. I believe it is what caused one of my exhaust valves to break in half years later. It seizes your camshaft when the distributor bearing seizes because its attached to your camshaft obviously.
Yes I didn't know it was called a distributer at first it has been sounding progressively louder when idling the last few days is it just the igniter I need? That metal fan thing under the plastic casing
It has nothing to do with the electronics (ignitor).
the problem is the bearing that the shaft rotates on has gone bad. This is not a serviceable part and you need to buy a new distributor.

no. that's the distributor cap.
You need a distributor - the metal part circled in red.
3 bolts hold it on, there are a couple electrical connectors coming out from it, and it requires a tool called a "timing light" to be set into position properly.
