Is this a joke? Darton sleeves and an eBay turbo?

No offense to OP, I'm just being nit-picky...but this is like the 20 billionth time I've seen a Cometic head gasket called a "cosmetic", and I don't know why, but that really grinds my gears.

As for the cam choices, I hear the type R cams are the best OE cams for turbo applications, but I don't have any personal experience.

Predictive spelling on my device changes the spelling of some words sorry.

As for the turbo its one I have it will be swap out for a branded turbo when the funds are better. Not all millionaires unfortunately.

main thing I want it the engine built perfect. The turbo comes after there for the saying get it up and running.

If you're sleeving the motor there is no point to stay at 83mm, you'll find headgaskets and pistons harder to find. Just stick with 84mm, it's a normal size, and you'll make more power.

I personally would run a 89mm crank too, but that's me.

What are your horsepower goals? That compression is pretty low, this thing will be a dog out of boost.

Looking for between 400-500bhp on 115 octane racing fuel.
went for 83mm to give me some meat on the sleeves to over bore if they get damaged

You will still have room left if you go 84mm.

400hp can be made on a stock B16 running 91 octane.

I think you should do a little more research before you begin the build.

PS - skunk pro valvetrain is a waste of money, I've seen guys make over 800whp on GSR cams.

Engine is built to be reliable.. on the advice of a guy who runs a time attack eg b18c4 turbo with 420bhp.(2 years never a break down)

am hoping for big dyno figures but 400-500 seems to be the best power for the levels of grip on the air strips I race on. In my class the tyres must be legal for road use in the uk/ireland.
Tyres struggle over 400bhp.

the guy thats putting the engine together is also mapping wreckons 650bhp.. just have to wait and see..

but aslong as its reliable I will be happy.

as for skunk2 valve train they have the most positive reviews. Ferrea and supertech had to much conflicting information about reliability under boost most of it read on this fourm.

The ebay turbo however will be binned. Have be considered either a holset h1c or hx35

Stop playing games with trying to make the Holset fit. You're in the UK, get a Garrett of a slightly larger size than than HX35 and be done. That way you don't worry about replacement used parts and trying to find them in some un-godly location. the GT3076R or similar size though a bit more costly, is much better to use than any Holset, and no eBay.

84mm is fine, and stay with the simple Type R camshafts for the use of this, since you have the 3 options. Check with Rich7777 (if he still comes on occasionally.) He had similar goals with much less equipment for those tight-turned smaller roads there.

Tyres will always struggle over 450bhp. On these forums the use is based upon actual HP to the wheels not Brake HP like in the UK, so it may cause some confusion.

Thats why I like this fourm honest answers.

the holset is cheap for a lorry breakers just up the road from me as the garrett would have to be bought new.

Must have a few words with the bank manager.

Any possible issues with the distributor on big horse power as am seeing alot of people fitting coil packs now?

Fueling question also
am only running grams fuel pump 320 in tank and grams 1000cc injectors. Would I need a pot and external pump.? Or am I just over killing what I need for the power am looking.

You say you work in whp as we work in flywheel bhp. Be interesting to see what losses am getting through the s9b gearbox on the dyno.

Then new it is, but you have consistency of parts, repair, and utilisation

That's more of a choice with specific types of racing, and parts replacement over anything dealing with HP. In your case, the stock distributor-style is just fine. However, it may need to be enhanced depending upon the type of racing that you're doing. If doing something on the circuit, then some additions may be needed, but not necessary to convert to a coil pack unless Really necessary, which in your case, no.

Its a slight bit over what is required to do what you need, but what you have works fine. There's no need to change out the equipment. No need for anything external or electrical.

Its simple math really, just subtract about 18% off of the BHP to get wheel horsepower. In the end, its just a number.
