Only thing id be wary of is anything with a mating surface. I.e head, cam caps, camshafts, rods, rod cams, etc. Aluminum scratches very easily.

Lol so everything? One of the valves cracked prompting the rebuild, and the cam journal near that valve is lightly gouged but IDGAF I cant find a cheap core and this thing needs to go back together soon.

what would you recommend besides a parts washer? A bucket of cleaner is 25-100$ and I'm not keen on spending that much for cleaning supplies while my buddy's part washer is chillin there waiting for me

it's no problem to wash the whole head, just be sure to use a nylon brush instead of wire. be thorough and remove any residue with compressed air. plan to change the valve stem seals just to be safe afterwards. remove all sensors before washing- obviously.

I used the plastic on the cam and mating surfaces. I used wire on the rockers and caked in oil on the edges of the head.

now I'm thinking about power washing it w/ a lil simple green or something else mixed in. I couldn't clean around the valve guides whatsoever and I couldn't actually clean alot of spots.

I've done simple green/purple power cleaning on blocks and heads on several rebuilds. I spray it on, let it soak in, scrub with an old paint brush to get in the crevices and spray off with the hose; compressed air dry when done. I usually have to repeat the process 2 or 3 times to get it as clean as I like.

How do you feel about power washing? I figure if I keep it the wand far enough away it couldn't possibly hurt anything

i like that quote from kimi i remember watching it and thinking how cool it was
