2014 civic si issues please advise guys
I've bought a brand new 2014 civic si from the dealership almost three weeks ago. i have about 650 miles now and i might have messed something up by not breaking the car in properly and speeding a bit. After a while, possibly during the first week, there was this whistle or whining noise sounding almost like the car was supercharged. it sounded kind of cool at first like one of those fake whistle turbos u put on the exhaust...but of course, it made me paranoid so i wanted it checked out asap. as time progressed, it got worse.
i went to the dealership saturday but only to hear that they couldn't find anything wrong, the exhaust wasn't leaking and that the sound is coming from the front of the car from the transmission area and not the exhaust. they said they couldn't find nothing wrong with the car and they didn't have another 2014 civic si to compare it to. please somebody help as the noise sounds terrible like if the car was a piece of **** toy car and its a shame because i spent all that money and its a beautiful car. i don't know too much about cars but even i knew the sound wasn't normal and my friends that are car enthusiasts said the same. they said could be a belt or something. PLEASE ANYBODY HELP ME..i'm helpless, i'm stressing and i don't know what to do. i love my car.

My 2012 civic si (same transmission) has a whistling sound. It always has. Its currently over 30,000 miles and I havnt had an issue. I think thats a normal sound. However if you still are worried you might get a better answer on the 9th generation civic web site.

I just bought a 2014 SI coupe as well. I've been breaking it in pretty easy and only punched it a few times. I have heard a faint whine when I shift out of gear into neutral and the engine spools down to idle. But I've heard that sound from the very first time I drove the vehicle on a test drive at the dealership. And to me it sounds perfectly fine. I have 450 miles on it so far, and it's running like a champ. I not sure if that is what you experienced/are experiencing at all. Sounds like you may have something different. Hope not. Best of luck. Or send a sound clip of it and I'll tell ya if it sounds any different than mine :-)
You will never find anyone that will admit there is an issue with a new Honda on this site LOL.
MY 2013 Si had a very loud whine to it as well from the belt. It got quieter as time progressed. Make a video so we can actually hear what you are talking about though.

Wow brand new 2014 civic si and water pump bearing already gone bad? I have also heard that particular in new si's they have the clutch problem and people have heard like grinding noise coming from transmission. But hope your problem is resolved.
Btw the whole "break it in easy" thing is total bull. Break it in hard (after warm up) and itll run better. Theres no reason or excuse for a new car to have issues with being dogged on from day one as long as its warmed up.
