96 Spec Type R Compression Test
Hey all,
I looked at a jdm type r swap for my car and compression tested it. We let the car warm up for maybe 2 minutes but the temp needle was still cold. The readings we attained were 199-201psi across all cylinders- very close to one another. I liked the consistency but these numbers seem very low for a type r. I was hoping to see numbers closer to the 230-240 mark. From your experiences does this seem to be a healthy motor and would doing the test on a fully warm engine bring more normal results? Thanks!!

Different gauges will read different numbers. You are within the "normal" range for that compression. I highly doubt you could hit the numbers you desire even right off the assembly line. Consistency is key here and it looks like you are on the mark assuming the numbers jumped to at least 50% of your final number in the first hit.
