Default 2008 Civic - No heat from AC

Hello

I've had my 2008 civic since August 2013. All fine until a couple of weeks ago.
I was travelling to work one morning and then noticed I was getting no heat from my air con.
To confirm , no warning lights are appearing on the dash. The engine heat gauge is just below the middle.
All oil , water and coolant are at the required levels. Currently around 80,500 miles on the clock.

The air con is blowing cold air through all the vents. The aircon buttons all work. The temp gauge control works on the dash (low,16 then 28,high) but setting the temp to any of these those not change the temp.

I brought it to my 3rd party mechanic but he couldn't find anything wrong.
He said there was an error code relating to the outside temp control but it is working correctly (as in it's says the out temp is 10Deg)

Has any one experienced an issue with no heat from the AC before?

Might be a dumb question but why are you using the AC to heat the car?

AC can be used to defrost the interior of a cold car in the winter, but the defrost setting has to be used and the AC should come on with the setting.

I'm guessing English isn't the OP's first language, so he's expressing himself the best he can. I could be wrong though, maybe the OP really is confused.

The sensor that measures the outside air temperature has zero to do with the heater/AC system, unless you're talking about the sensor that measures the temperature inside the car? I'm guessing you drive a hybrid, since it's the only Civic with an automatic interior air temp? I would look into the error code some more. How did he find the code? What was the code he found?

Error codes are always the best place to start.

Also, what do you mean by 16 low and 28 high?

Ok , didn't think my post was going to be so confusing.

When I say AC I mean air conditioning but that's just what I call the heating in the car. Forgive me if this is not the correct technical name.

When I turn the temp gauge (from 16 to 28 degrees and any temp between those) , the air coming our through the vents is stone cold.

Does that clear it up?

The air conditioning system cools the air. It SHOULD be cold when the AC is on. I'm still not clear where you're getting the numbers 16 and 28 from. A non-hybrid Civic in the U.S. doesn't have any numbers on the AC/heater controls. What trim of Civic do you have and where are you located?

If you're 100% sure your air control buttons work properly and your engine gets to normal temp, my guess would be that the valve that opens to let coolant into the heater isn't working. It could be a bad motor on the valve.

Ok , I'm in Ireland and driving a European Honda Civic.

The heater temperature gauge is electronic and when I turn the button it sets the temp from 16 degrees cel (lowest) to 28 degrees cel( highest).

The Air Con is working and is cooling the air. I can have the air con on or off but it does not heat any more. This is my problem.

OK, that makes sense. Yeah, my guess is the valve is bad that opens up to let coolant circulate through the heater core under the dash.
