Default Feeling like an idiot....(98 civic wont start)

Hey guys...

Yesterday my 1998 civic decided to start..then immediately die...then no longer start again. It cranks- never starts.

It is not...Fuses.....
I've replaced my plugs/wires
I've tested for spark bu pullin a plug and turning over and looking for spark (No spark)
Ordered a new distributor

Now I'm hoping its the distributor. But....Someone suggested it may also be the coil....

Here is where I feel like a dum dum.....

Isn't the ignition coil in the distributor? / won't a new distributor have a new coil?

Help please

Yes it could be the coil which is included in every distributor. But could also be ur igniter. Either way the new dizzy will prove this

On another note. Did u check for any codes coming from the ecu?

Okay I feel better about the coil thing now.

No CEL on I wasn't sure if I could put it in diagnostic without it?

It's most likely the coil. The ICM rarely goes bad. OEM coils are about $185 from Honda.

As mentioned, the new distributor will have a new coil and ICM, along with new sensors, and rotor.

Before you swap in the new distributor assembly, make sure you have power to the distributor, [black/yellow] and IGP1 and IGP2, [the only 2 yellow/ blacks at ECU/ECM] at ECU/ECM when ign. switch is in both the run and start positions 94
