Do I need head work?
Long story short, I have a jdm b18c full swap and the other day I was ripping down the road in vtec and my car jumped timing like 3 teeth. I found out it was the stock oem belt so I put a new timing belt and tensioner and the car ran great. Thank god I didn't do any major (noticeable) damage. Compression was 260 psi across the board. Pretty high right? But the first test ride I took when I opened it up the second it hit vtec the car backfires and misfires and will barely run unless I keep my foot on the throttle... I need help cuz this is my daily driver so if you need more details or if this happened to anyone else let me know.. Thanks any input helps
One tooth jump is deathly left alone 3 teeth. my bad news to you is your valve(s) is bent or damaged from hitting the piston(s). Pull the head and give it a good visual inspection. Good luck.
^true..
thing is, the compression checked out good, which even though a leakdown test would tell you which cylinder has the bent valves, sometimes you can see it on the compression test too.

Everything was done before this happened, the 260-270 psi compression held in each cylinder for atleast a minute or two.. I was told to do a leak down test but don't have access to one or know anyone who has one so I think I'm just gonna pull the head and check it out.. ):

And if I have broken or bent valves won't it run like **** the whole time? It only runs like **** after vtec pops and then it will try to stall until I shut it off and restart it then idles and runs fine anywhere under 6000 rpms
In that case, don't waste more time. Just do a leak down test.
