Default 98 Civic EX keyless help

So I have an aftermarket radio installed, had the place who installed it hide my oem radio underneath it to retain the keyless. Everything worked fine for a month then my keyless stopped working. Went back to the shop and told me it was the programming and told me to go to the dealer to have it done which was stupid since they programmed it when they hid it underneath, thinking they didn't want to do it since they're lazy and it was raining. They even suggested replacing the remote since they said it could be the problem.

so my question is, do I just re-program it normally by holding the valet button or is there an easier way to do it since it is hidden underneath the aftermarket radio. I'd have to remove the panels and hope that the valet button is easy to get to.

everything works, keyless remote flashes red when pushed, dome lights work and radio works so I'm assuming it's not the fuse.

That could be a number of issues, and honestly it sounds like they did a hack job at the wiring.

Give some details about the problem and symptoms.

Do the locks work using the switch on the driver's door panel?

Have you checked the fuses for the keyless system?

yeah the locks work on the switch at the driver's door panel.

I haven't checked the fuse since the aftermarket radio is working and the power was supposed to be shared with the oem radio but I'll check. just gotta remember which fuse it was if I can find the diagram of the fusebox.

Check fuses 14, 28, 43, and 47

The FAQs sticky has fuse box diagrams.

ended up being right about my first guess. had to reprogram it over again which was a pain since it was tucked below the aftermarket facing down. had to take out the center panel. smooth sailing after that and got my keyless back. now time to leave a bad review for the shop that wouldn't open it up again and reprogram it.
