Icon2 D16Y7 Transmission Question (78 civic swap)

Hey everyone!
Long time - no post for me.
I haven't had any vehicle worth posting about for a while.

I now have a 78 Civic that I just picked up a D16Y7 for. The transmission in the donor car (99 civic) is auto. I have read in certain places that an older civic transmission will bolt to the D series engines. I have sourced a manual transmission out of a 91 CRX. The bonus to this transmission is that it has a cable operated clutch - not hydraulic - the 78 is cable as well.

My question is:
Will the 91 CRX transmission bolt up to the 99 D-series engine?

Thanks for your help!
I'm glad to be back!

Lance

you can use a Y7 clutch, pressure plate and flywheel (or similar) and maybe use a 91 CRX set. but you must use a 91 CRX release bearing to work with the cable-type trans.
