Default obd2 b18c1 in obd1 hatch idle/setup issues

First off the car was just purchased by me so im in the middle of sorting out someone elses frankenstein. So far this is what i know

Engine/Trans: stock * OBD2* B18C1 from 00' GSR
Engine Harness: *OBD2* 00' GSR
ECU: P72 from 94-95 *OBD1* GSR

I've checked the obvious things like the map/tps sensors being backwards and disconnected the IACV and the car stalled so thats working just fine there. There are no engine codes and no CEL on at all. I know it could be the 02 but im looking for other possibilities besides that because of the low rough idle and that it will stall on me coming down to a stop sometimes. i also am looking to make sure that i've got the car configured correctly with the OBD2/OBD1 stuff because im not sure if there is anything special that needs to be done in order for it to function correctly and i have not found one thread or site that lays it all out in plain english as of yet.. thanks all

if car stalled when the iacv was disconnected then you probably need to adjust the idle. Maybe the idle adjustment screw is screwed in all the way.
as far as obd2/obd1 stuff IF ALL obd2 electronics were used then the only problem I see there is for the iabs.they might need to be rewired cause the polarity is different.

I can look into that for sure. In the mean time should I disconnect the vacuum line so the butterflies stay open all the time? I'm looking at idle adjustment after worm today to see about that and will report

okay so i got the car to idle right around 800ish or so, when it wants to its very steady but it seems like the car is loading up or something with the A/F mixure...and driving down the road 9/10 times it will stall if i push the clutch in...

your fast idle thermo valve probably needs to be cleaned and screwed all the way back down.or preferably removed. might want to clean the iac valve screen while your at it too.

wait your engine is 2000 you shouldn't have one. clean the iacv valve screen.

Took the iacv off and it looked like dude before me just cleaned it. Did it again no help, car is just running super rich, going to replace map sensor and see if it helps. Took off iab vacuum and will test that out on way home

Stock fuel system and stock for. O2 appears to be new but can't confirm bc again I just got the car. Ecu is stock p72 as well. I'm leaning towards the map as well. Also must note on cold start it doesn't do a high idle. Immediately has a hard time idling. I've checked obvious stuff like battery cables, ground wires, and reset the ecu twice so far

does your car have a fitv under the throttle body? wondering if they used a obd1 throttle body on your setup.

Hmmm...highly doubt it bc everything came out of a wrecked 00' teg but I can sure look and see if it's there or not....a buddy told me I'm chunking black plumes of smoke out at WOT so confirmed it's rich as hell

discovered the o2 sensor was barely in the exhaust and was loose and causing my rattle i was searching for. reset the ecu and took it for a drive...still having the same issues i was before with the idle and stalling. Also, can anyone answer me if i can swap any other honda map sensors for mine to test or does it have to be from a b18c? thanks

Any vacuum leaks or open vacuum lines? spray some carb cleaner around the intake manifold see if the idle jumps up.

download a pdf service manual from hondahookup (register to download)
follow the manual and do the following

first check to vacuum leaks
second check the timing with engine warmed up and at correct idle
3 adjust the idle speed according to manual

check for exhaust leaks before the o2 sensor

obd1 ecu IAB output is reverse polarity from obd2 check on pgmfi how to rewire it

Just have to ask, does the check engine light work at all?
