Default Car sways while cruising

bump for resolutions?
Just got some 16" rims and my 96 Civic hatch does this now

*edit
Fixed the problem, the nut that holds the ball joint on the passenger side was loose.

Your steering and suspension components shouldn't have any play in them. Furthermore, if your swerving started after buying tires, the tread construction or sidewall construction of the tire might have a role in it.

The 1st gen Falken Ziex had this issue. Instability for the first few thousand miles due to tread squirm. Snow tires are the same way. What type of tires did you buy?

Falken Azenis RT-615 205-40-16, pressure is 40psi on all four corners.

That PSI is high....but not the cause of your issue.

did you buy the tires new or used?

I bought them used but they are in almost new conditions. The manufacturers pink markings are still on there.
Could my shock be an issue? I noticed my front drivers side doesn't bounce as much as my front passenger side does when I push down on it. But my previous wheel and tire set up (15x6 195-55-15) did not exhibit any of this weird steering behavior.

Well...shocks can be an issue...but you just started having issues when you changed tires.

Be more descriptive about the problem. What makes the car pull?

I switched rims and tires and that's when I noticed the problem.
The car starts to pull at highway speeds but not constantly. It seems to start pulling once it hits uneven road. And after the initial pull, it would track straight but the steering wheel would be slightly off-center in the direction of the pull.
Also sometimes during a turn as on the exit ramps or on ramps to a highway, it would start to pull as well. Feels almost as if I had yanked the steering wheel abruptly

You're getting what sounds like bump steer and wandering due to tires that are more sensitive to road imperfections, loose chassis components, or the need for an alignment.

I think your car had issues before, but the "sharper" tires are increasing it. Either that or your tires have bad belts/radial pull.

If you just got an alignment done, they probably left the rear toe link loose.

Check for torn bushings and loose chassis parts.

Suspension components seem to be torqued correctly. Have not had an alignment done yet. I will be getting an alignment done, I wanted to check to see if there's anything I've missed.
Thanks for the replies.

This is probably why I've never bought rims wheel tires that have less miles on them. God knows what it went through.

^^^ Loose chassis parts!!!
I decided to jack up the car one side at a time to give it another inspection for loose parts. Driver side was fine, passenger side I found this;

The friggin nut that holds the balljoint!
I couldn't believe I missed this before. It wasn't apparent until I jacked up the car on the passenger side. It wasn't all the way out like it was in the picture, I took off the nut and sprayed some pb blaster on there to clean it. I also noticed I was missing the pins on both sides. This may be the reason why it came loose in the first place…I'm not sure.
After tightening that bolt, I went for a 20 mile cruise to test the suspension out and it seem to have fully fixed the issue.

Thanks Hugh_Jorgens!

No problem buddy. Glad it worked out.

PS, your ball joint boot looks torn in the pic.
