Default 00 civic si - what was the original motor?

Whats up HT just had a quick question and hoping someone can help me out and point me in the right direction. So I picked up an em1 and was wondering what was the original motor that came with the 2000 civic si?? Mine only says b16. Wondering if it's suppose to be b16a2?? Any help please and thanks.

B16A2 like others say, a B16A is a JDM engine that was probably swapped in for some reason.

No. Stop posting this crap. There is no reference whatsoever to a B20 ever being in a civic in any market.

Unambiguous internet communication requires smilies. Here's the corrected internet version of your post:

To me that seems boring. The EM1 was so slow that the "Si" probably stood for the noise people made when they discovered it's terrible performance. You'd floor it and go :siighhhh: at how slow it was.

But it had charm and character because of how hard that B16 hamster mill worked and how fun it was to hear the pistons whizzing harmlessly.

In fact every Si besides the 8th gen was slow but charming. The EM1 was the perfect iteration of what an Si should be, in large part, due to the B16A2. That's why it's STILL considered by most people to be the best Si ever.

B20s were torquey, but BORING as hell with no VTEC head. IMO.

I make a sour face whenever I see a GSR or B20/B20V swapped EM1. Ruins the car, I think.

I think if you're one of these people that thinks LS1's make FD3S RX7's "WAY BETTER BRO", then you'd like B20 EM1's. It's a down scaled equivalent situation.

It doesn't "just say B16". It will at least say B16A, but it should be a B16A2.

Wow......so a a non civic si with a b-series engine probably gives you a sour face as well. So if the car didn't come with its original stock engine gives you a sour face? Disappointing.

I'm sure it says b16a, but the only way to tell what yr its from is by looking on the head. You'll see a couple of numbers stamped with a line in between the 2 numbers. Those 2 numbers represent the yr it was manufactured.

Yeah my fault. It does have a b16a. What engine does that car come from? And is better or worse the the stock the em1 should have? Please and thanks.
