Default Engine Swap + Turbo

I was previously on preludezone.com but people thought I was spamming so I just joined hondatech. I'm not a spammer, I have genuine questions, I'm going to copy and paste the threads from preludezone...

OK so I have a 1999 Honda prelude base coupe 5seed. I've decided I an going to an engine swap on it my friends are going to help me I also want to boost it. So I have a few questions, for the swap should I do another h22 or a k20? Does anyone know any place I should start looking for engines? I'm trying to find one that's boost ready but if not that's OK. What price range should I try to stay in when looking to buy an engine. Does anyone have any advice or tips as far as the engine swap goes or the turbo install? Recommend any certain parts or brands to use?

Please no rude comments, I'm just asking for some opinions from people who share the same tastes in cars that I do. I appreciate all comments thanks.

As you probably found over there, people don't want to "spoon feed" information.

We suggest that before asking lots of very open ended questions, you do research on your own. Read the stickies, read the threads that are saved in the FAQs, read other peoples build etc. Then look at what you want to use the car for, and what your budget is like. We don't know if you have $2500 or $25000 to spend, if you have another car/s to drive, if you want to cruise canyons, drag race, road race, hard park at shows, etc. These all make a big difference.

Where exactly are you getting a H23aV for $800? I just paid $1,400 shipped. I havent found a place yet that sells blue-top engines for less then $1,100 picked up. At least from a company that I would call reputable enough to trust the engine Im buying from them isnt a POS.

Ive never heard of them before, then again they are on like the polar opposite side of the country then I am. Shipping would be a bit for me cross country let alone the chance of it being damaged in the process.

I went through HMO in cali, but I also only wanted the PDE head version and those arent as common. So I had to deal with the companies who had one in stock, and HMO was the most reputable place on the west coast.

I guess location, and how picky you are makes a difference in price too.

On top of the engine cost, what the heck kind of "turbo kit" are you going to get for $800 that isn't going to have the turbo fall apart and kill the new engine within 1000 miles, and maybe make an extra 30-40 hp if tuned well?

Hell just a good ecu setup and wideband to monitor what is going on will probably cost a minimum of 500 bucks, for used parts on "bro deal" haha.

Sparksman call www.foreignengines.com in Lynwood.

They are litterally across my work up there, they sell the F20b and H23aV Bluetop for the same price and they will ship locally anywhere in Western WA.

Price: $876.00 after tax.

You even get to go pick your own motor.
