What type of clutch did you buy? Most stock replacement clutches are soft. This is a good thing. However, they will start to firm up over a couple months time.

With Hydraulic clutching systems, the thing that basically controls clutch stiffness is the pressure plate. Stock spec pressure plates usually are pretty soft, it's the heavy duty clamping power of a true racing pressure plate that will cause a much stiffer feel to the clutch pedal.

In most cases, the clutch master and slave cylinders don't play much of a role in pedal stiffness.

Did it come with a new one? If so it doesn't sound like an issue.

Still unclear on what you bought/used. A new disk? And your old pressure plate?

So you bought a new friction disk, but left your old pressure plate? And did you change your master cylinder or was it your slave cylinder.

Everything is new except pressure plate... I was going to get one before but i was having a hard time taking it out bcos i was using just arm power i didnt have air compressor and tools at the time so i just decided to just leave it as is... The clutch cylinder and slave are all new... So you think should i replace pressure plate or just leave it as is? Since the gear are going in just fine... Let me know thanks

It sounds fine then. As long as you can shift through the gears and no abnormal noises or feels. I remember when I put a new Exedy organic replacement clutch it was softer than the OEM one.

New clutches feel soft because of new springs and new grease. You may also need to adjust your master cylinder. If it has too much free play, the clutch will appear soft.

You should have about 1/2 to 1" of freeplay at the top of the pedal travel.

I'm guessing you're saying you didn't change your flywheel?

does this apply for aftermarket clutches too ? my stage 2 ACT clutch(HD pressure plate) is hard as **** to press in, will it get even harder, it's not so much an issue for me but my gf wanted to try to drive it down the road this spring lol.

Depends on:
-what did you use to grease the splines?
-how old is the clutch?

ACT pressure plates are way too stiff for my liking. So your clutch likely will get stiffer as the springs harden from flexing and the grease fills up with contaminants.

Be careful not to keep that pedal depressed any longer than you need to. ACTs relate back to a lot of crank walk issues. Consider installing a clutch bypass so the pedal isn't down when you start it.
