Default ... turbo sizing (watch out, n00b question here)

... i was wondering where the t3/60-1 fit into the picture... i know that turbo sizing roughly goes like this: t3 -> t3/t4b -> t3/t4e -> t4... so where does the t3/60-1 fit?...

... i searched but didnt find anything... but from the threads i read, it seems like the t3/60-1 flows more than the t3/t4e... is this true?...

... sorry for the n00biness, i am just try to do some research before i buy a new turbo... this t3 just runs out of breath... and after riding in servion's car... i know i need (want - however you wanna look at it) a bigger turbo...

((got bit by the dayam boost bug again... hehehe... ))

yup, the 60-1 flows more than the t3/t4e

Straight from Turbonetics "the 60-1 will outflow any standard T04B with ease! (The 60-1 Hi-Fi will deliver approximately 90-95% of the flow capacity of the standard 60-1.) "

all the goodies here

... so to clarify... would the progression of turbo sizes be :

t3 -> t3/t4b -> t3/t4e -> t3/60-1 -> t4

or

t3 -> t3/t4b -> t3/t4e -> t4 -> t3/60-1

... thanks

Yes the 60-1 and 62-1 compressor wheels are bigger than any T04E compressor wheel but the 60-1 and 62-1 are actually part of the T04B family of compressor wheels. The Super H trim T04B is actually bigger than a T04E 60 trim wheel. Food for thought!

isnt the 'b' and 'e' designation mean only the compressor wheel is different? so how would that effect compressor or turbine housing size?

I didn't say the E and B designations had anything to do with turbines at all. I mentioned the diffs between the E and B housings were numbers and letters then advised also the turbine wheels did the ssame from a T3 to T4 wheels just as fyi.

sorry, i was talking about this post. the b & e designations have no effect on compressor housing sizes right?

... so to clarify... would the progression of turbo sizes be :

t3 -> t3/t4b -> t3/t4e -> t3/60-1 -> t4

or

t3 -> t3/t4b -> t3/t4e -> t4 -> t3/60-1

... thanks

I see but he pretty much had it right, smallest is T3 which is T3 turbine and T3 compressor then T3/T04B/E since they are "Hybrids" then staright T4 which is T4 compressor and T4 turbine. We could bring the T3/60-1 in the picture then to a straight 60-1 which is a T4/60-1.

So for my information, this is correct right?

t3 -> t3/t04b/e -> t04 -> t3/60-1 -> t04/60-1

Thanks

No I think a T3/60-1> TO4B > T04E > T4/60-1 but remember some of the T04B wheels are actually larger than the T04E, Super-H trim vs 60 trim
The Super h trim has a 2.298inducer and 3.00 major but the T04E 60 trim is 2.290 inducer and 2.9550 major. Confused yet?

... and the saga continues... hehehe... so it is :

t3 -> t3/t04b/e -> t3/60-1 -> t04b/e -> t04/60-1

boostfed : thanks for clarifying this for me... also, i noticed your sig -- impressive numbers!!!... can you give more details on your old setup???... those are roughly my goals - ~350whp and 11's... lemme know... thanks again...

Old set up has been poste before but here goes, B16A with 81.5mm bore Endyn/Wiseco 9.3:1CR pistons(supposedly)Eagle rods, Skunk2 Manifold, Holley 68mm TB, DRAG 3 kit with small T3/T04B S trim comp, Stage 1 turbine wheel, Greddy Type 24 IC, Hondata Stage 2B, RC 550cc injectors, everything else pretty much the same except I had an ACT Xtreme 6puck unsprung clutch. 370whp and 276 ft-lb torque 21psi, The 1/4 times shoulda been about an 11.60-11.70 worst but had lots of IC pipe blow offs and other little probs at the beginning of the year.
