2002 Honda Accord Transmission Swap
Whatsup everyone. I got a 2002 Honda Accord with F23 Engine non vtec on it and automatic transmission. The trans starts acting up when the temperature goes up and it jerks when its about to shift from 1st to 2nd. So i was thinking that ill just do a manual swap to it and I am having hard time finding a F23 Manual trans. Does F22 Manual trans will work? Do i have to replace the ECU too? Does the trans that came off from a vtec Engine will work on the non Vtec?
I want to say that there may be a difference in the trans mount studs. I think F22 uses three studs and F23 may only use two, but they also may be in a different location as well. I do not see why a F22 transmission would not bolt to an F23. Plenty if H22/H23/F23 swaps into F22 cars.
By '98 I am fairly sure that the ECU/TCU was combined into a PCM single unit. For your car you would need to purchase the correct MT PCM. Otherwise the AT PCM is going to be looking for pressure switches and shift solenoids, and if it does not find them will set CELs if not limp mode as well.
You may find what you are looking for if you include H22/H23 swaps in your searches.
