Default "miss civic" 95 civic hatch

ok well my car has been through several stages...and this year is no different. I decided to start a new build thread as my build has gone in another direction...

new goals...maintain strait line fun while getting this beast to turn...and turn fast. Hp goals to remain the same 300low boost/ 4-450whp on high boost

so I have paid and registered for a couple hpde's and am awaiting reg to open on a couple more. its what I have always wanted to do but got side tracked chasing the topend, I forgot how much fun it was to turn. it made 300 before lifting the head a couple years ago on the dyno on low boost setting(wastegate) so that's where I plan to keep it for hpde's

current plans are to toss on a teggy brake setup, performance pads, rear sway bar, 15x8 rims with some 225/45 bfg rivals, cooling mods(ducting), aero mods....

long overdo update....so much greatness has happened. fixed a cutting out issue thats been plauging the car for years...turned out to be the cam regrind.

did my first hpde, had a great time, about to do a second more on that in a few....some pics of what has happened the last few months

track setup- enkie 15" rims and 205/50 nitto nt-01

then the brakes got upgraded...teggy front and rear

added these bad boys while i was at it...not pictured was the goodridge braided lines and stop-tech 600 dot4 fluid and hawk hp+ pads

did an autocross...finished about midpack overall...not bad for a 2nd timer

made a badass towhook ...that paint though

better fix it huh

did an event called gridlife....was amazing hpde, drift event, electric music concert, time attack, car show, etc...it had it all...2 days of pure high octane car bliss

then i decided to see what would happen at the drag strip....not bad, but i sold my slicks to fund the road race setup... so i managed a 13.15 @ 115mph, good for a high 11 on slicks

found some weaknesses at gridlife...one big one being that i flopped around like a wet noodle in the gsr seats and stock belts

also ordered a greddy oil cooler kit, waiting on that to show up since oil pressure was getting lower than i'd like to see by lap 4 at the hpde.

and i need to order harnesses and install the sway bar

Hows that filter holding up? I've debating about using one like that or a traditional cone filter. I guess it's more a mesh than a filter, I forget the term for it.

Anyways, good work. I don't have the patience for a disc conversion! haha.

this thing burns rubber for days...lol

the mesh screen does just fine...it keeps rocks and chuncks of rubber out of the turbo...

a little last minute prep for wmhm'14 (west Michigan Honda meet = 3 day event at gingerman). seat and harness are in and good, oil cooler install, working and no leaks... and rear ls integra 13mm sway bar added. I know its small but its a CX so it currently has no sway bars....we'll see how I like the change in handling

then this happened pulling it on the trailer...doh

after trying to source a compatable oil cooler so quickly this was the only option

after my first session the oil pressure was even lower than before...I had to find a solution and luckly I found a guy who could weld aluminum and a nearby shop to use there welder....$20 later ($10 to each of them) the cooler got welded up (sorry no pics) I got the cooler install just in time to miss two sessions...double suck

so I go out for the 4th and last session of the day ... warm up lap went well... between turn 3 and 4 I was pulling hard in third and just....boom....3rd is gone

lug it back in in 2nd, run home to grand rapids (1hour) and grab my spare z6 trans. shoot back just in time to make it to the raffle, I didn't win anything...but my cousin with a chevy sonic won two quarts of Honda mtf...divine intervention

I was up to 3:30am getting the transmission in with the slight help of a few people, the company of many, a case of pbr, and most importantly the help of a man I only know as hugs nugs...aka the dude in the too tight and way to short cut off jean shorts...this man helped tons!

hit the shower and then bed to wake up to a luke over the p.a. telling me I was late with I guess the rest of Honda meet aswell....lol...

first two session were omg amazing! car drove awesome! oil temps stayed 55-60psi at redline even after 6 laps....but by the end of lap 6 the coolant had enough and started getting hot. so a quick cool down lap made the brakes and coolant happy.

3rd session I go out and lap 2 or 3 the wastegate decides to back off and fall off. the hose was keeping it off the ground, so I made my way to get off the track quickly but not racing. right as I pull off the wastegate drops yanking the oil drain with it, makes a big ole mess....yada yada yada...my connecting rod tow hook is functional...yay... waited for it to cool off enough to work on which because of myself and a couple others caused things to run behind, they grouped some sessions together and I didn't have time to toss the wastegate back on before the last session...

had so much fun though...

I only used the lap timer on one session which to be honest was the slower session. timer showed a couple 2:02's and a couple 2:01's but on those laps I did slow down a couple times to let people pass, im confident with a less crowded track im easily in sub 2sec range which is where I had set my goals. and in hind sight I need to brake later....way later...im still new to these integra brakes and im treating them like the cx brakes that have always been on the car....I guarantee im loosing a ton of time right there...I will be back out there soon enough.

looking to hit up the drag strip on some borrowed slicks aug 1st I believe and then back to the road course on the 30/31st for some more lapping!

I believe I saw your build thread on dso a few years back, am I wrong? If not, glad you're still with this thing! Also, was Brandon your instructor? I see a black *** hand and gotta ask, haha.

no...for gridlife jake kaminskis was my instructor, that shadow though....great guy and great instructor!

for Honda meet i was in intermediate, we needed an instructor for first session only, basically to make sure the people in intermediate we safe to be where they were as apposed to beginner. so jake jumped in, which was nice to have the same guy.

and yes im sure you saw this on dso! i have been at this car for going on almost 7 years and i have had a build thread most of that time

thanks, it does pretty damn well! spools pretty damn fast for how big it is, a lot of planning went into that aspect.

engine and power seem good....now its all into suspension work and seat time...and some day when money allows it some tranny work with lsd, luckly haven't noticed any open diff issues

so I think the 24.5's killed my gearing...a couple mph I would have chalked upto traction causing lower traps....but I lost 7mph...I was hard into 4th on street tires, I was banging rev limiter in 3rd crossing the line...so not quite what I wanted but excited for my first 12 sec pass!

reaction............ .8140
60ft................. 2.0853
330ft............... 5.5872
594ft............... 8.4504
1/8th et........... 8.4504
1/8th mph........ 86.50
1000' et........... 10.8578
1000' mph........ 101.65
1/4 et............... 12.9100
1/4mph............. 108.95

I did cut a few 1.9 60's but I over inflated the slicks(12-13ps on purpose) and was slipping the clutch hard... I drove to the track as opposed to trailering it and didn't want any dead hooks, not trying to break ****
