just barely got a 88 crx has a d16a6 needing opinions
It's a great motor. Clean it up, replace anything that is wrong. Do a basic tune up; cap, rotor, plugs, wires, oil, coolant, ect. Get a decent 4-2-1 or 4-1 header and possibly a 2" catback exhaust. The factory air box works fine, but smooth tubing should help flow a little bit and a lot of people just like the sound of cone style filters.
I would just opt for basic bolt ons and possibly tuning if you can afford it. I'm not sure what cams are available for the D16A6. But with bolt ons and a tune I've seen them put down 116 HP and 116 FT-LBs. Which, in my opinion, is amazing for a SOHC I4. It is a great motor.

It has been sitting on a pallet for a few years, just waiting for me to get around to refreshing it with new seals and the other assorted items.
I even sourced the OEM front pipe for it, with the stock exhaust manifold.
If you are going with OEM exhaust manifolds, try to get one from a D16Y8. It will bolt right up and has a much improved design.
I was thinking of just keeping the car as is and swap it out with a gsr or b16b if possible can't decide between the two options of swap
