Timing belt crank gear loose

Default Timing belt crank gear loose

The gear on the crank for the timing belt seems to have a little play either direction. Its not anymore then a degree each way. might not even be that. is this normal?

should be no play i wouldnt chance it ... pull the gear and replace the key

Remove the gear, and the wooddruff key. Inspect the pocket that the keys rests in.
