Default Power Steering Question (Need to Disable it)

hey guys i know a lot of guys go to the drag strip and would like to hear what steering rack setups you run? i have a 99 cvici Si that i would like to ask if its possible to install a non assistant steering rack to replace my current Si PS rack? i already have PS pump, PS bracket, hoses and lines disconnected, but i want to replace the rack as i my steering shaft has become wobbly. i was told a while back that if assistant PS is disconnected to make it non assistant then the rack gearing will get damaged quick. if i do replace the rack do you think i should still do the rack pinion adjustment or its done from the manufacturer? would a 99 civic hatch DX non assistant PS would work on my SI....etc?

one of my civics is looped like 3 years with out problem.

I follow one thread here on HT, bought the AN to metric thread fittings and 14" of 6an braided line for the loop.

You can use this for easy install.

Wow I literally just asked this question 10 minutes ago about my 95 ex. I didn't know the system would get damaged quicker. What would be the sense in doin it over again right? I'm curious to see what information comes up!

Hey so do you want the rack to be completely full of fluid? To the max?

u fill it as much as u can before looping the hoses... use a funnel fill the hose and then attach it to the other line. some may spill out but u will be ok.. if u want u could also run a stealthmode PS delete kit like this

i think it will get damaged since the system is meant to be lubricated to operate and in my case the hoses are just exposed to atmosphere so im sure its going through a hard time. doing the PS oil fill and doing the loop hose is definitely better than leaving the rack un-oiled and exposed to air/dust.

if you had the extra cash and wanted to go with the best choice, what would it be? manual steering or PS steering with breahter kit? im leaning towards the manual for simplicity and weight reduction. would the PS rack have stronger components that can benefit the drive in more stiffness and control? wanted to hear your suggestion here

Ok I did some research and it turns out the manual gear is both shorter and slimmer by a little bit. Did your manual rack fit nicely? I'm trying to put one from the 95 coupe dx into my 95ex. Will this work and how dude?

Oh I get it, you try and fill it to the tippy top so no room for air. Thank you bro! I think the kit is a little fancy. In a perfect world I'd like this ex to be manual steering. But I've heard this isn't a direct swap...
