Installing a knock sensor on 92 prelude.
Hi everyone, long time read, first time poster.
So I'm working on this prelude, I don't know where its been or really anything about it except it has a f22b engine and a p14 ecu and of course this is a recipe for a code 23 because the f22b doesnt have a knock sensor but the p14 expects one.
I've read all I can find on here about this topic and most people with the same problem solve it by just welding a knock sensor provision to the block, which I would be happy to do.
My problem is, I don't see any wire or connector for a knock sensor. Should there definitely be one what ecu? Could I be missing it? Or do I need to install one somehow, and how would I go about that?
All input is greatly appreciated.

Instead of welding a knock sensor provision on the block, just buy the correct ecu for the f22 which is the p12 or the jdm version a p39, those are a bit harder to find. You can find a p12 for fairly cheap on eBay or at a breakers yard. And if you really don't feel like either of those invest in a chipped ecu and call it a day.
I don't think you'd want to use the p12 on the dohc f22. If that's the f22b sohc you'd probably want to use the accord ex 94-95 ecu. You will have to swap a10 and a6 pins tho.
Thanks for the advice, that's probably the route i'll take. What are the downsides to the p12 to the p14? Is that going to cost performance? Truthfully, the car runs awesome as is, even when the light kicks on. I just want it cleared so I'll know if any sensors I'm actually running go out. Thanks again.
Okay so you are running an h23a1 ecu on an f22b which is the DOHC version correct, not the single cam? We would be more useful to you if you tell us what engine yu have exactly and if you know if its a usdm or jdm spec engine.
Yes it is DOHC 5 spd, I'm not sure of its origin but Im thinking its a jdm. Emissions don't matter here but the ecu for the f22b (the p39) is rare and expensive so I'm exploring other options. When I do an ebay search for f22b dohc ecu I get multible listings for these:
97 01 JDM PRELUDE 2.2L DOHC NON VTEC M/T ECU 37820-P5L-003 JDM F22B
I don't know when my engine was made so I don't know if this would be compatible, anyone know?
Would it just be cheaper and easier to find someone to chip my p14? Thanks.

Its a obd1 which is what I need but for a 2.0l, would that be compatible?

No that pk2 is not compatible for your engine that is a 2.2 liter and the ecu is for a 2.0, so there will be issues with it. I think if you are so dead set on sourcing an ecu why buy a chipped obd1 ecu with a good basemap on it, and you don't have to worry about anything for awhile. You would have to get a different ecu for chipping because the p14 isn't good for chipping and running the software for tuning. So you would be best off with a p28 or p72. Buy one from eBay off of Justin at advanced ignition heres the link for that, the one below it is a damn good seller who I have talked with and does great work:

Yes they are plug n play for your 92 lude. Just first decide who you would like to buy from and then tell them what engine you have, and they will make a basemap for your engine. After that you should be good to go.
