Confused about ignition wiring test results
I'm confused. Can anyone explain this?
I had no spark on my 1990 Civic. I did the coil and igniter tests in the FSM. I didn't have continuity on my white wire and blue wire (steps 5 and 6 in the Igniter Unit Input Test).
I finally just replaced both the igniter and coil, and the car started.
BUT I never found continuity to body ground in the blue OR the white wires.
Shouldn't the motor fail to start without continuity there?

I don't see where they want you to test from BLU to WHT.
Both tests in 5 and 6 are from wire to body ground.
If you are saying that both of these tests to body ground were not working for you, then G151 seems likely since it is the ground point that both of these wires have in common.
G151 is one of the two ground lugs at the thermostat housing.
You might want to check that ground location even though your car is working now.
Make sure the wires are clean (not corroded or broken) and the screw that holds the lugs is tight.

Yes, I meant continuity from blue to ground and white to ground. I checked the ground connection and sanded the connections so they were bright and shiny. I'll double check the wire. Thanks!
But I still want to know, without continuity from each of these wires to ground, the car shouldn't be starting, right?
