Default Radiator

Hello!

My beloved 1994 Honda Civic SI has a radiator that appears to be leaking a little ... it's okay now that the weather is freezing (winter here is anywhere from +10 C to -30 and sometimes colder) for the next little while, but in the summer when it warms up, obviously it will need to be replaced.

I had my car in for maintenance today, and they told me an aftermarket radiator would be in between $500-600. After some research, I've seen that radiators normally aren't over $100, so I'm guessing the extra few hundred would be for labour?

I just wanted to make sure with you guys that buying a radiator somewhere online would be okay - that ~$75 seems about right. I'm thinking I'll have my brother put it in to save on labour costs.

Thanks all

You can replace those radiators yourself very easily. You just need a 10mm socket and wrench along with some pliers and a screwdriver to remove the hoses and lines. You can have it replaced and running within an hour, very easy to do.

Woo! Thanks Ross :D So the price for the radiator (as seen here http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/199.../radiator.html) wouldn't be sketchy?

Be sure to bleed the cooling system thoroughly after replacing it.

Consider replacing the thermostat while you're at it.

Right /\ I knew I left something off.

That's cheaper than I remember seeing, but those things are tiny any way so that may be right.

http://www.mishimoto.com/honda-civic...nce-92-00.html lifetime warranty and the top plastic tanks won't crank on you.

I have the full size X-line one in my integra and love it looks super clean and can run the car hard during my time attack events and not have to worry about it even getting close to the middle.

^$260

A bit pricey in my opinion.

Thanks so much for the opinions, guys. So happy to hear that I can get a radiator for less that $100, and my brother is good with cars, so I'll have it fixed when it gets warmer!

How about 70 bucks for same lifetime warranty, and a company that strives for 100% satisfaction:

Amazon.com: 1290 Radiator for Honda Civic 1.5 L4 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 00 26MM In/Outlet 28 mm: Everything Else Amazon.com: 1290 Radiator for Honda Civic 1.5 L4 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 00 26MM In/Outlet 28 mm: Everything Else

Same plastic tank B Swapped spoke of.

Tell me what you guys think.

Or if you want top shelf item... Mishmoto for under 200 lifetime warranty:

Mishimoto MMRAD-CIV-92 Manual Transmission Performance Aluminium Radiator for Honda Civic : Amazon.com : Automotive Mishimoto MMRAD-CIV-92 Manual Transmission Performance Aluminium Radiator for Honda Civic : Amazon.com : Automotive

Or economy "race" with good customer reviews for 60 bucks:

Amazon.com: Fastwayracer FW-RD-92CIVIC, Honda Civic Manual 2 Rows Aluminum Racing Radiator Half Size: Automotive Amazon.com: Fastwayracer FW-RD-92CIVIC, Honda Civic Manual 2 Rows Aluminum Racing Radiator Half Size: Automotive

If you can't tell, I tend to like Amazon.com.

Lifetime warranty is what counts for 70 why not I guess, sorry on the one I linked it's a full aluminum so no plastic at all that's what I meant. yes it's a bit up there I guess overkill if this is a stock car.

Hey B-swapped, the one you posted is also on Amazon but for just under 200 bucks man.

See the second link I posted. That's that evil mark up I so hate.
