i was almost thinking my radiator fan was'nt working, cause i waited 25 minutes with the car idling and hood open, but it never came on, but then i just realised its the winter time!, so maybe it takes even longer than 25 minutes for it to come on ?
how long on average would you say it takes for most crx radiator fans to come on during winter when its cold out ?
cause i think i just need to wait longer to see if it comes on, but just want to see how long people say it comes on in winter, so i have an idea of how long to wait.
thanks for any help

what motor?
my b18c radiator fan rarely comes on.....even in summer. and i've never heard it kick on while parked during the winter.
if you want to test it then jump the switch with a paperclip/wire.

i usually rarely ever see it come on either, and crx are good at never overheating too,
i have a dohc ZC motor, radiator and fan is just stock crx one
i do have a small leak on top of the radiator, and see coolant along top ridge, but it does'nt loose much coolant, it stays full for a long time, and just loses a little bit at a time, but still functions fine for now

Go drive around for about 20-30 minutes minimum, then park it and wait, it should come on in another 5-10 minutes. It wont come on until the temp gauge needle is almost to the top of the flag.

i already have done that, and drove around 20-30 minutes and parked, then let it run idling with hood open another 15-25 minutes, watching for the fan to come on with flashlight and listening, but it never came on ? but someone else said the fan might not come on at all if you had the heater on at the time ?, and now that i think of it, i might of had the heater on?, so i'll try again making sure its off.
a guy told me to do this :
------------------------
with heater control valve closed, turn headlights on, hold idle to 1500 rpm, wait 15-20 minutes for fan to come on. when fan goes off, open the heater valve and wait for fan to come on again, approx another 10 minutes. When fan goes off, turn off headlights, still holding 1500 rpm this whole time, wait another 5 minutes and shut the car off.
30-40 minutes in freezing weather to warm up a CRX that doesn't get driven enough.

Leave the hood closed next time. You are letting nice cool air get in there, you want to keep it warm under there.
And what is that for? What does that accomplish?

what exactly does that mean? if it takes that long to warm up you need a new thermostat
