Default Radiator Suds

Just curious as to why thick suds would come out of my radiator when i took off the cap? Nothing was added to the radiotor at all like....liquid metal or anything. Just radiator fluid and water

When I ran low on coolant and almost over heated there were suds but after I put some coolant/water in, it was good as new. The reason I was low on coolant was a small leak in the rad.
