How bad do these bearings look?! D16Y7
I purchased this block two days ago of the guy on craigslist for $70 bucks ,because my current d16y7 has a slight knock at around 3-4k rpms.
Started disassembling it today to see how everything looked I pulled the rod bearings out and saw the wear on them looked bad. I'm obviously replacing them but what I want to know is if these look bad enough to have caused damage to the crank itself.
No deep scoring on the bearings or crank, on cylinder 1-4 the bearings feel loose.

That bearing wear looks relatively normal. I would concerned about that chunk that looks like it's missing from that journal, though.
Run the journals (crank, rod, and mains) all with your fingernail. If your nail catches on anything, you'll need to have it refinished, or you may have to scrap it, depending on how deep it is. If your nail doesn't catch on anything, take it all to a machine shop and have them spec the sizes for replacement bearings. NEVER reuse bearings.
