Which cams to go with?
My friend has a 00 civic si with a built head. It's a stock bottom end and compression ratio, but has skunk2 valves, double valve springs, retainers, intake manifold, and throttle body. The head has been port and polished and the intake manifold has been port matched. Currently still on stock ecu and cams. He's looking at getting a hondata right now and cams shortly afterwards. We're both kind of overwhelmed with the number of cam choices available and could use some help picking some out. The car will remain NA, and he's looking for something moderately aggressive that doesn't sacrifice midrange but will be able to take advantage of his valvetrain in the top end. Suggestions? I'm also curious what a safe redline would be with these mods. Thanks.
You get cams based on static C/R... the b16a2 has a 10:2:1 C/R so anything past skunk2's tuner 2 cams will be "over-caming" and you'll most likely be loosing power not gaining. ++Vote for this to be moved into the all motor section++
I'd say a SAFE redline would be 8500 revs with a fuel cutoff at 9000, but i feel bswapped93 would be better at this since he spends more time on b series engines than i do...
