Default What sensor is this? (Vacuum leak)

Hello HT. So I noticed a very loud vacuum leak coming from my engine, and I found out that it was coming from this little black sensor near the intake manifold. If I hold my finger over the circular part of the sensor (shown in red), I can hear the idle drop down. Any idea what goes there or what the sensor is for?

Is that a GSR swap? If so, that's the IAB butterfly vacuum controller. Connect it to a vacuum reference port, and you should be good to go.

That's not the IAB solenoid, it's the evap purge solenoid. One vacuum line goes to a nipple on the intake manifold, the other goes to the charcoal canister on the firewall. If you're not going to use the solenoid (it wont throw a code when using an OBD1 ECU simply plug that port or remove it entirely and plug the nipple on the intake manifold.

Thanks a lot. I'm just going to remove the solenoid then. However, there is a little hose (in the picture) that connects the solenoid to the IM. I've been pulling on that hose, but it won't come off. Is it supposed to be like that or will it rip if I keep tugging on it?

It's probably just stuck, twist it and or pry behind it with a screwdriver, or take a utility knife and slice the hose if all else fails.

So is the IAB solenoid on the other side of the motor? I'm not totally familiar with the GSR IM, but looking at a parts catalog as well as the 94-01 FSM, that looks a LOT like an IAB solenoid.

Not saying you're wrong, just looking for clarification for the future.

I used a knife and it worked. Plugged the nipple too and now my engine doesn't Rev high anymore

This is the IAB solenoid:

What's listed as the purge solenoid isn't, it's the vacuum actuator for the secondary butterflies which you can clearly see in the second pic, The manifold shown has no evap purge solenoid (JDM manifold)
