CEL Light is on / REV Limiter 3500RPM / Codes 4 and 21
I have a 1994 Honda Accord EX that the REV Limiter is engaging whenever the car reaches 3500RPM's and then the car will cut out until you decelerate and lower the RPM's and the car CEL light is on. When I do a diagnostics test I receive 2 fault codes (4 CKP Sensor/Vacuum Switch) and (21 VTEC Solenoid Valve).....So the 1st thing I tried was cleaning the (EGR) Valve and Lift Sensor which is mounted on the intake manifold at the back left of the engine. This did not help or change anything...... So the 2nd thing I tried was replacing the old (EGR) Valve and Lift Sensor with a new one and I also replaced the Distributor with a new one. This did not help or change anything either...... I noticed in my service manual that there is also a (EGR) Control Solenoid and (EGR) Vacuum Control Valve which are both mounted together by the right front Strut assembly. Did I replace the wrong part? When I replaced the (EGR) Valve and Lift Sensor that is mounted on the intake manifold at the back left of the engine. Should I try replacing the (EGR) Control Solenoid and (EGR) Vacuum Control Valve which are both mounted together by the right front strut assembly ? Basically there are 3 parts on the car that can be called (EGR) Valves and I am not sure that I even replaced the correct part ? I would appreciate any help or advice that someone is willing to give on this matter... Ken
Neither one of your codes are related to EGR, why are you replacing EGR related parts?
Your VTEC solenoid is the smaller gold capped item near the distributor in-between it and the intake manifold bolted to the head.
The CKP sensor is is over near the timing belt.
