What is that circled thing called.. is it the collector? or???

Anyways... On my 91 hatch the plate that's under that part has somehow got damaged... the front end of the plate is now bent downward and scrapes when I go over bumps....

Easy fix? With no catalytic converter(not my doing..) I really dont want broken exhaust thats the equivalent of a straight pipe that's belching god knows what into the air and into my cab... Cops round my area wouldn't be very pleased...

Resonator.

The plate you are talking about it might be a shield, preventing scraping and rock/road damage. As far as ease of work - who knows, get down there and figure it out. If there are bolts/nuts to take off - soak them first with PB Blaster or similar (for a day or two) to remove corrosion, otherwise you might brake off or strip bolts.

 

Resonator. But just take the shields off of it. They arent necessary.

 

Thanks all... I'll have to see what I can do... Talk to some friends or see if the local mechanic will take it off without charging me to much (I don't have anywhere I can really do it myself, nor do I have the tools to do it..)
