We are looking for new shocks for the racecar. Its a 95 Del Sol. B17A1 right now looking to upgrade to a B18C5 setup. We have some street tuner $20 coilovers on it right now. 1 Blew so there a skunk2 sport strut in the RR. lol. car weights 2450 right now looking to get it to 2200 by race season
Anyway, we are looking at the Koni yellow race shocks. adjustable and rebuildable if we have any problems. But the VW dealer i work at has run the old koni yellow sport before and rebuild them 3 times over one season. They were on a ITB Golf. The track is a bit smoother now, but i am affraid we will spend $1300 on the shocks then have to send them for rebuilt. My Boss has been running bilstien race shocks since the Konis and loves them but they dont really offer a nice race shock for Hondas.
Anyone have the Koni yellow race shocks and able to comment, or another good shock that will run about $1300 Canadian?

Cause you live in Canada I would recommend whats easy to rebuild. Im working currently on a set of BILSTEINS. I have converted to Schrader valve and just getting the Bilstein Head office to set me up with a damping profile for my setup. Parts are cheap and shocks can easily be rebuilt in under 30 bucks per shock.
My last set of shocks where old old Ground Control Advance design's which again I had all the tools and seals to rebuild myself.

Are they designed so we can run a adjustable sleave? and any idea on how much spring they will take? They would cost half of what the Koni shocks will but have no adjustment.
Joal Search on Honda Tech in regards to info Here ill save you the grief https://honda-tech.com/forums/road-racing-autocross-time-attack-19/diy-bilstein-revalve-project-part-2-a-2437593/ You can make a Bilstein into a rebuild shock. You need hand tools and 1/8th pipe tap and about 2 hours. Yes you can use GC sleeves or ebay ones like I plan on doing. Doesn't matter really what shock you get, The ITR spec ones are your best shock cause they are shorter than the rest by about 20mm"s
As far as adjustment.... tell your self how bad you need it cause after 10 plus years of driving I don't think I need it.
IF you read my other post I clearly state that im working with the guys at Bilstein for a damping profile for my shocks. They are over the Shelf ITR Sports. What I would do is order ITR Fronts and EG rear so you can retain your stock LCAs and not go to the eyelet style ITR units

I did, I just didnt understand what shock you were running. I searched a few times with no luck, but just 20 min ago i found a thread about the bilsteins and GC top hats. My boss has 3 ITB golfs he races and they run bilsteins but he told me he had a race shock on the cars. But surprize after talking to him a hour ago they run sports on the front and HD on the rear. there off the self and not revalved for his springs. Many years on them and they really are good. Now i understand why people were all talking about ITR bilsteins. The other thread i read people said they just sent there shocks to be revalved by bilstein, just had to fill out a form of specs of there set-up. cost $30 per shock plus shipping.
I am no shock guru. We have a local guy who has a shock Dyno and rebuilds shocks for fun. So i might try and contact him for rebuild help, He will be busy with 24H of daytona right now but there lots of time. but i am planning on ordering them tomorrow. It will save us over $400 getting the Bilsteins over the Konis and i can get sleaves super easy now that I clued in. lol. Can you keep me informed on what you come up with for the shocks and is there a write-up on how to rebuild them?
Thanks for all the help, we are tring to upgrade a bunch of the car this year and I to make sure we keep pushing the E36 M cars at the track.

We ordered the Bilstien ITR sports for the front and the del sol HD for the rear. Ordered from Essex dist in BC canada. Saved a bunch of money. Hoping it pays off. I know the Bilstiens can handle our track as my boss has them on his 3 ITB cars and the shop maintains a E36 M3 (in the same class as us) that has them. I apprciate all the input from everyone here.
