Ok so I have a 1990 honda civic ef hatch and I was wondering what strut and spring combo would be the best for a really big drop!! I was wanting to drop it 3 to 4 inches but have smooth ride! A couple setups i was thinking about -
koni yellows and GC coils
Skunk2 Sport Shocks with GC coils
and has anyone ever had this and how do they ride and how low do they go? also up for any more good coilovers in a price range of $600 to $700!

 

everything you're picked out will blow the dampers and have a harsh ride b/c they weren't meant for "dumped" cars. there is a niche market for cars that want to run super low. some examples:

H&R Ultra Low Coil Overs
KW Ultra-Low
D2 Racing SL (Super Low) Coilover Set

I suggest doing some research

GC+Koni all day. My ride is nice-ish.. It's definitely not too rough and it's not bouncy.

 

I have BWR's in my car and it rides ok with me being low but yeah there is no such thing as smooth and lowered

 

You can't slam a car on GC/Konis.

You need a full body coilover. Buddy club N+ and F&F type 2's seem to be popular with the slammed crowd. As long as you're not dumb enough to lower a full body coilover via the spring perch, the car will ride fine when slammed.

EF suspension geometry doesn't allow slamming as easily as later model civics. Just a heads up.

Ok thanks and yeah! what I meant by slammed and smooth was that it wouldn't be like ebay sleeves on a stock struts which I have rode in before. And also I was wondering if anybody has tried eg front wishbone forks on a EF and would it work? Because I have some coilovers I could get for cheap but I would need to get eg front forks.
